Designed for small library use, this table employs the simplest combination of letters and figures.

This example indicates how four books by four different authors (Arnold, Dana, Sherman, and Scanlon) would be marked- with 940.54 as the classification number, and Ar6, Di9, Sh5, and Sca6 as the respective Cutter numbers.
